Family Miraculously Saved After Fire Razes House While They Were Sleeping...Read Details

Everything in the Nzimande family house in Oshabeni kasi was reduced to ashes.
An entire family almost died in a fire which started at night while they were all asleep.
They were miraculously saved after a man who had come out to ease himself saw flames coming out of the house on Wednesday.
According to Daily Sun SA, not one of the six family members realised the house in Oshabeni kasi, near Port Shepstone on KZN’s south coast, South Africa, was on fire.
A family member, Getty Nzimande , 52, told Daily Sun: “We were fast asleep when we were woken up and told the house was on fire. We tried to kill the flames with water but they were too strong and it was too dark. Firefighters, ambulances and cops were called to the scene.”
Getty said the family lost everything, including IDs, birth certificates, clinic cards and groceries.
“It was just a miracle that no one died.”
Getty said they were only left with the clothing on their backs.
They couldn’t work out what had started the fire since the house had no electricity and no candles were left lit.
Getty said paramedics took her cousin, Mapece Nzimande (58), to hospital after he inhaled smoke.
She said he had taken painkillers, which made him sleep like a baby.
The fire started in his bedroom but he didn’t wake up until rescuers woke him up.
Councillor Khayelihle Shinga said he was told about the incident.
He said he contacted the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality’s fire department to see how they could assist the family.
