See 'Massive' Rat Tired with Rope and Publicly Shamed for Stealing Rice from a Shop (Photos)

 

These are shocking images showing a rat being punished for stealing rice in China. The rat was tied up and publicly displayed. The photos has stirred controversy online.

 

According to Sun News, the rodent was reportedly caught by a man who owns a corner shop in Heyuan City, southern China. Pictures shared on social media show how the rat was strung up to a trolley with string tied tightly around its arms and legs.

 

A yellow note was also hung around the animal’s neck which read: “Even if you beat me to death, I will never admit that I stole your rice.”

 

In the second picture, a different message was written on the note which implied the rat had been tortured.

 

“I swear I’ll never do it again!” the note read.

 

It is not known if the rat survived its ordeal. The horrific images, which were shared on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo, have sparked a furious reaction on social media.

 

One user wrote: “It was shamed by a poster. Poor rat! How could it spend the Lunar New Year?”.
