See the Gigantic Asa Arokolo Statue Unveiled by Ambode in Lagos State (Photos)

A gigantic statue showcasing the cultural heritage of the people of Ikorodu has been unveiled by the Lagos state government.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Saturday, 4th of November, 2017 unveiled the ASA Statue, in Ogolonto, Ikorodu, saying that the State was in sync with the resuscitation of cultural heritage in Ikorodu Division.
 
The event was attended by Ikorodu residents and indigenes who came out en mass as early as 9 am to witness the unveiling of the Asa Arokolo Statue at Ogolonto, the entrance point into Ikorodu town.
 
Speaking at the event, Hon SOB Agunbiade, Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, who initiated rebirth of the festival, said it would be an annual celebration in all the six divisions of the area.
 
Agunbiade said, “We have revived this culture in the six divisions of Ikorodu and we hope it continues. Just like Eyo festival is celebrated on Lagos Island, we want to be celebrating this too in our community annually”.
 
Governor Ambode, who spoke at the unveiling of the statue through the Special Adviser and Acting Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Lagos State, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola said the ASA Arokolo will serve as unifying factor in Ikorodu division.
 
He, therefore, congratulated the initiator, Hon SOB Agunbiade for putting his name in the book of history. Ambode, however, urged the Royal Heads to remain in unity in Ikorodu division.
 
The Statue was unveiled by Governor Ambode who was ably represented by Hon Akinsola immediately after the Ranodu of Imota, HRM Oba Ajibade Agoro prayed for Ambode, Hon. Akinsola and Hon Agunbiade.
