I've not completely abandoned singing, says Eldee

Eldee tha Don has debunked rumours making the rounds that he has abandoned making music after being away from the scene for over a year now. The rapper/music producer spoke with News Agency of Nigeria on what he has been up to recently and his future plans as it relates to music.

Rapper/music producer/record label exec, Lanre Dabiri also known as Eldee D Don, has debunked rumours making the rounds about his absence from the music scene.

The Trybesmen Records head honcho told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that he had not been absent as widely believed but only made a transition from singing to online digital music management.

Eldee maintained that even while he was a recording music artist, he had always had a passion for online digital music management and helping artists to get the best of the industry.

"I am not completely absent from the industry, my true fans know of my transition right from the beginning of my transition. I have a computer training background, because I studied computer science as a student and I have always had the plans to delve into online digital music management", he said.

The father of two, who sometime in 2013 took a break from making music to spend more time with his family as well as work on other new projects, told NAN that he had to create PLAYDATA platform to expose upcoming musicians to cutting edge technology that would boost the substance of their works.

"The site does many things for the artist, including monitoring how many times your song was played on the radio, reactions from fans and it also gives the artist international recognition", he said.

Mr. Dabiri, who is one of the pioneers of Hip-Hop/Rap in Nigeria, explained that critics should be sure of their facts before they delve into issues they are not conversant with.

"I believe that I will contribute more to the industry through my PLAYDATA platform and it will also increase my relevance more than singing. I have not completely abandoned singing, it's on the back burner until my PLAYDATA platform reaches its full potential", he added.
