Nigerian soldiers in the north-eastern part of the country recorded a remarkable victory against some invading members of the Boko Haram sect.
Nigerian troops stationed in Dikwa town of Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State have repelled attempts by Boko Haram insurgents to take over the local government, according to the Nigerian Tribune.
Shettima Sheriff, a resident of the area, told newsmen in Maiduguri, the state capital, that the people of the area were impressed with the show of force by the military who repelled the insurgents.
According to him, "this is the first time Boko Haram are coming to the town and could not succeed. We are hoping that very soon, all the insurgents would be dealt with and our people would all return home."
In another development, hundreds of internally displaced person from Ngala Local Government area are returning home following relative peace that is returning to their area.
