Speaking at the IDP camp, Obi said his visit is to celebrate the 2022 Christmas Day with them and show that he is sad about their five years of living in the camp.
Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) has spent Christmas with the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at the Abagana camp in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
Obi shared photos of his visit on Sunday on his Twitter page.
Speaking at the IDP camp, Obi said his visit is to celebrate the 2022 Christmas Day with them and show that he is sad about their five years of living in the camp due to the activities of suspected herdsmen.
The former Governor of Anambra State lamented that the displaced persons were forced to abandon their homes due to perversive insecurity, noting that he shared in their pains and losses.
"Spent my Christmas day visiting displaced Nigerians in IDP Camps in Benue State. They were forced to abandon their homes due to the perversive insecurity. It is disconcerting that the government is failing in its responsibility to protect her citizens. This must change." Obi said.
