Soldier in Akure Army Barracks Allegedly Stabs Woman to Death

A man has cried out for justice after a soldier invaded his house and stabbed his wife to death in cold blood before carting away her valuables.

A tragic incident has claimed the life of a 25-year-old woman identified as Juliana Adeyemo who was brutally stabbed to death by a suspected soldier attached to the 32 Artilery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Owena Baracks, Akure, the Ondo State capital.

It was gathered that the woman, a recharge card seller in the barraks died in her apartment at Block 5, inside the barracks on the night of Sunday, March 13, 2016 after sustaining numerous knife cuts.

According to the husband of the deceased, Mr. Wale Adeyemo, he revealed that the alleged killer of his wife carried out the wicked act in the presence of his children. Adeyemo who was away when the incident happened, said one of the children, Dayo, a four-year old, revealed that it was a soldier that entered into their apartment and killed woman on the fateful day.

He also revealed that the neigbours who heard his wife shout for help refused to help her while the encounter was going on.

“I am appealing to the army authority and the government to help me arrest the killer of my wife, I don’t want the matter to be swept under the carpet,” Mr. Adeyemo appealed.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the 32 Artilery Brigade, Captain Ojo Adelegan said the Brigade had commenced investigation on the matter.

“It was unfortunate that the incident happened but I want to tell you that it was not a soldier that killed the woman, it is not possible, our soldiers cannot do such a thing, they are responsible officers, ” Adelegan stressed
