The photo above shows the late Sani Abacha meeting with the Palestinian leader, Yasir Arafat, on June 7, 1998.

That meeting would go into history as his last official outing.

After welcoming the Palestinian president, the late Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, General Sani Abacha, was announced dead the following morning June 8, 1998.
