Army Truck Crashes In Abia During Heavy Rain, Soldiers Injured

A Nigerian Army patrol truck crashed on a highway in Abia State on Thursday morning during heavy rain.

Several soldiers were injured when the vehicle lost control on a sloped section of the road.

The truck was descending when it skidded on the wet asphalt at high speed, lost traction and veered sharply off the road.

Red mud washed down from nearby hills covered the asphalt, making conditions slippery.

Civilians and motorcycle riders who were passing by rushed to help.

They lifted injured soldiers covered in mud into nearby vehicles and buses to take them to hospitals for emergency care.

One soldier was seen lying in a rescue vehicle tending to his injuries while removing mud from his combat boots.

Another armed soldier stood guard near the wreck while coordinating recovery efforts with civilians.

Videos from the scene circulating online showed the chaotic aftermath along the expressway as people worked to help the injured soldiers.

Police said they are still investigating the crash.

At least two soldiers suffered serious injuries and were evacuated from the scene.

Authorities are expected to release more details as rescue operations wrap up and the wreckage is cleared from the road.
