Wike Says He Will Quit As Minister If Tinubu Loses Abuja And Rivers

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has said he will step down from his cabinet position if President Bola Tinubu fails to win both the FCT and Rivers State in the 2027 presidential election.

He spoke at a meeting with leaders and members of the Apo Mechanics and Traders Association in Abuja.

Wike said his stay as a minister depends on his ability to deliver votes for the President in his main areas of influence.

He said if the ruling party loses in the FCT and Rivers at the election scheduled for January 16, 2027, he will announce his resignation the next day, January 17.

He said if he cannot deliver where he works, he is not worthy to be there.

He said the administration is building a coalition of different parties to win various seats in the FCT.

He named Tinubu for the presidency and Philip Aduda as the pick for the Senate, calling him a man of the people unlike those who only appear on television.

He added that the two House of Representatives candidates being backed are former Area Council chairmen who were also present.

He said there is a firm agreement and that the day was the final affirmation.

The announcement comes as the FCT Administration works to settle the long running relocation and land allocation exercise for thousands of traders and mechanics in the Apo Mechanic Village area.
