Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended for 30 days for leaving the Portugal camp during the UEFA Nations League.
The Portuguese football federation announced the ban on Monday.
He also has to pay a fine of 255 euros, about 286 dollars.
The 41 year old left the camp on September 30.
He was unhappy with coach Jorge Jesus, saying the coach broke his word about playing time.
The trouble started when Ronaldo warmed up as a substitute against Norway on September 27 but never came on.
Then he found out he would not start against Denmark on October 1.
Earlier in October he said sorry and said he would accept any punishment.
The federation said his apology was one reason it gave him the lightest penalty allowed.
The ban began on the day of the Denmark match, so he has already served 19 days.
It ends at the end of October, in time for Portugal's games against Denmark on November 14 and Wales on November 17.
Portugal won all four Nations League games without him and reached the quarter finals with two games to spare.
