JAMB has warned that admission letters issued by universities are illegal and invalid.
Only the letter generated through its CAPS system will be accepted for NYSC call up and other official use.
Registrar Prof. Segun Aina made the warning on Thursday, October 15, 2026, while receiving a delegation from Veritas University in Abuja.
He said universities have no legal power to issue admission letters.
Only JAMB has that power for all tertiary schools.
He said it is a problem that students trust any paper with a school's name on it.
He called the practice ignoble and told schools to stop it.
He also said that the Federal Ministry of Education has ordered that all admissions go through CAPS, and any admission outside the system is null and void.
Students should get their real JAMB letter once they accept an offer on CAPS.
