The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion on Independence Bridge in Lagos Island while the Federal Ministry of Works carries out urgent asphalt repairs.
Work starts on Friday, October 16, 2026, at night and continues through Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18.
The repairs will affect both inbound and outbound lanes.
Each section will be partly closed at a time, and one lane will stay open so motorists can still reach their destinations.
Commissioner for Transportation Oluwaseun said in a statement on Wednesday that drivers should plan ahead and use alternative routes.
LASTMA officers will be deployed to manage traffic around the affected sections.
Motorists are asked to be patient, obey traffic rules and allow extra time for their journeys.
