The Chris Iyovwaye Governorship Campaign Organisation of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Delta State wants more openness about the state's food bank programme.

Its Director General, Dr Alfred Mulade, made the call in a statement on Thursday.

A report by Asaba Metro said the third edition of the programme was held in Asaba on October 14, 2026.

About 2,500 women from the state's 25 local government areas reportedly benefited.

Each received N50,000 in cash, totalling N125 million, and food items valued at more than N100 million were also distributed.

Mulade asked the organisers to explain where the money came from, how beneficiaries were chosen, and what was handed out.

He also asked for clarity on how the food items were valued and for supporting records to be made public.

He said openness would build public trust and make sure help reaches vulnerable people fairly.

He also asked what happens after the food is eaten and the cash is spent, and called for lasting measures that improve livelihoods alongside short term aid.
