Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq says he could be back in team training with Valencia soon, as long as his medical tests go well.

He has been out since September, when he got injured just before Valencia's match against Barcelona.

He scored for Valencia against Deportivo La Coruña before the injury.

Since then he has missed five league games against Barcelona, Sevilla, Alavés, Real Sociedad and Racing Santander.

Sadiq, 29, said he was due to have more tests on Thursday.

"Yes, I think I'm almost back.

Just a few more steps before I rejoin the team," he told AS.

He said he expects to return very soon if the results are good.

He also backed new coach Javier Aguirre.

Sadiq said the squad is staying positive and taking things one step at a time.

He said Aguirre told him to get well soon and that he is waiting for him.

Sadiq said the aim is to take Valencia back to where the club deserves to be, and that this is the goal of every player.
