United Nigeria Airlines has handed over a primary healthcare centre and a solar powered borehole to Aso Ayegunle, a community in Ado Ekiti.
The community sits near the Ekiti Agro Allied International Cargo Airport.
Executive Chairman Prof. Obiora Okonkwo made the handover on Monday in front of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
He said the airline's team wanted to leave a real mark on the community after its retreat in Ekiti in January.
They asked residents what they needed most, and the answer was clean water and a health centre.
Okonkwo said about 90 per cent of the construction work was done by people from the community.
He also thanked the governor for approving support within 48 hours.
The state government will equip the health centre and pay for staff and daily supplies.
Oyebanji said partnerships like this are important because government cannot do everything alone.
He also said his administration has rebuilt or built about 180 health centres in the last four years.
Community leader Prince Peter Falade said the new centre will make a big difference, especially for pregnant women, nursing mothers and children.
He said clean water will also help keep people healthy.
