Kenneth Okonkwo, spokesman for Atiku Abubakar's ADC presidential campaign, says Atiku is now the clear leader that other candidates follow.
He made the claim in a post online, on Friday.
Okonkwo, a former Labour Party figure who once spoke for Peter Obi, was given the role in July, after Atiku became the ADC's presidential candidate.
He said Atiku built the strongest economy Nigeria has had while serving as vice president from 1999 to 2007.
He also said Atiku is humble and puts people first, and that his promise to bring back the petrol subsidy shows that.
The row over petrol prices is getting louder ahead of the 2027 election.
Atiku has suggested supporting locally refined petrol to bring pump prices down, but the federal government has questioned whether that idea is legal and affordable.
This week the government also announced a 30-day petrol discount through NNPC.
Atiku called that discount temporary relief that does not fix the real cost-of-living problem.
Atiku is now the clear leader whom other candidates are following in every important national discourse. As the head of the economic team, between 1999 and 2007, and as the VP of Nigeria, he built the strongest economy so far for Nigeria. They paid subsidy and paid off our international debt. Atiku is humane and humble. His promise to bring back subsidy is a reflection of his policy of putting people and their welfare first. Let us join hands and elect this great patriot into office come 16 January 2026 for the security and welfare of all Nigerians
