Mrs. Bibiana Edu, the President of Catholic Women Organisation, (CWO), in Cross River State, has been abducted.
She was abducted by gunmen in Calabar.
According to Leadership, the incident occurred on Friday, along the Aged Peoples’ Home along Marian Hill in Calabar.
Edu, who is a director with the Cross River State Ministry of Heath, was abducted at the Old People’s Home, Marian Hill, while inside her car waiting for someone to open the gate for her.
According to a source at the scene of the incidence, “She was waiting in her car and blaring the horn for the revered sisters to open the gate which took quite some time and that may have attracted the kidnappers, who were driving past to go over to where she parked her car and dragged her out of her SUV into their gulf and sped off.”
A family source told Leadership that after her abduction last Friday, the hoodlums called the victim’s husband, Mr. Elemi Edu, on Saturday, to demand a ransom of N100 million and since then, there had not been any other communication from the gang.
Meanwhile, the Cross River State Police Commissioner, Mr. Jimoh Ozi-Obey, said a team of policemen had been sent out to rescue the woman.
”A police team is already out to track the hoodlums and she will soon be rescued”, he said, via a telephone interview.
