A young man has been dragged to face the law after allegedly killing his girlfriend's beautiful little daughter.
Baby Sophia was killed by mother's boyfriend
An American man identified as Jake Jensoon from Utah, is accused of abusing and killing his then-girlfriend’s disabled toddler after it was first thought she’d died of a seizure.
According to The Sun UK, Jake Jensen, 29, was charged on Monday with felony child abuse and child abuse homicide for the 2016 death of his now-wife Stephanie’s 19-month-old daughter Sophia – who was born with cerebral palsy.
Since Sophia’s death, the couple from Salt Lake City married four months ago and welcomed their first child together in June – another girl.
Their daughter was christened on Sunday – just a day before Jensen’s arrest .
Prosecutors filed charges against Jensen in after a final autopsy completed in January found child abuse may have led to the seizures and baby Sophia’s death, according to charging documents obtained by Deseret News.
It stated she suffered an “un-survivable brain injury due to lack of oxygen to her brain”.
Doctors said one of the baby’s legs was broken and the other was injured. The tot also suffered head and eye injuries.
Doctors said the injuries were consistent with “severe child abuse” and not something the baby could have done to herself or caused by an accident.

Sophia, who died in January 4, 2016, had been in Jensen’s care while her mum Stephanie, 23, was at work.
Her death has been investigated ever since Jensen gave conflicting statements about her final hours.
Two days before her death, police reportedly responded to a call after her mum Stephanie returned home from work to find her daughter having a seizure.
The baby girl had stopped seizing by the time cops arrived, and the mother and her boyfriend declined to have Sophia transported to the hospital.
Instead, they reportedly told police they would take her to see a doctor themselves.
Court documents state just days later, the baby suffered another seizure while in Jensen’s care.
Jensen originally told police he gave the baby a bottle when she woke up and her legs and arms went stiff.
Then he later admitted he had found the baby unresponsive and apparently having a seizure.
The baby was rushed to the hospital where she never regained consciousness.
Following Sophia’s death, the couple set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for funeral costs and then ran a second campaign to help with medical expenses which they said were not covered by insurance.
No charges have been filed against Stephanie. Jensen’s bail has been set at £384,000.
