The president of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni has been spotted using a phone that people could not believe a man in his status would own.
Yoweri Museveni
Yoweri Museveni, was recently photographed in Parliament receiving a phone call using a Nokia 1100 locally known in his country as “Ka-torch”.
After receiving the call, he hands it back to an aide.
A senior intelligence official reportedly told a news station in his country, Crooze FM when contacted on why Museveni carries a cheap phone, that it was about security.
“Security… One can be located easily by following smart phones…but not that one [ka-torch].”
The ka-torch was specifically designed for developing countries. Its keypad and front face have been designed to be as dustproof as possible and its sides are non-slip for humid weather [no harmful emissions].
“It is the only phone the president has,” the official also added.
