Swap Deal: Buhari Opens up on the Missing Chibok Girls

Following indications that President Muhammadu Buhari is set to accede to the proposal of the Boko Haram sect to swap the over 200 abducted Chibok school girls with their arrested fighters, the Presidency has spoken.

 
Nigeria’s President has again renewed his commitment to the rescue of the Chibok girls, saying government will not give up in the search.
 
President Muhammadu Buhari who recently travelled for a meeting of African countries publicly discussed his readiness to rescue the girls abducted two years ago and re-unite them with their parents.

Commenting on this, in his Twitter handle on Sunday, President Muhammadu Buhari paid glowing tributes to the military for their efforts in the war against insurgency in Nigeria’s northeast.
 
Buhari has expressed readiness to follow up concrete leads that will yield results concerning the freedom of the girls which are deemed the most popular captives in the world.

"What we will not do is waste time and resources on doubtful sources, who falsely claim to know the whereabouts of the Chibok girls" the President reiterated.
 
According to ChannelsTV, Buhari is ready to swap the Chibok girls with the incarcerated Boko Haram commanders in prison custody which is yet to be confirmed by the Presidency.

Recently, the Bring Back Our Girls campaigners had called on the President to accept the swap of the Boko Haram prisoners for the Chibok girls who were kidnapped in Borno State.

The President was in Nairobi, Kenya for the African economic summit which dwells on diversification and advancement of African economies.
