Stephen Keshi Lied About Ivory Coast Job - NFF

Posted by George on Mon 13th Jul, 2015 - tori.ng

Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, Chris Green, has accused sacked Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi of not being sincere about the Ivory Coast job.

Ex- Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi

Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, Chris Green was interviewed by a correspondent of Punch Newspapers and he revealed Coach Stephen Keshi's insincerity as well as failure to abide by the terms of his contract contributed immensely to his abrupt sack from the post of the Head Coach of the Super Eagles.

Green maintained that Keshi applied for the Ivorien Coaching job while he was still engaged as a coach of the Super Eagles, an infringement on one of the clauses in his contract.

"I have answered this question in my report. It’s there in the contract. It’s silent but the nature of the contract is that he (Keshi) cannot be seen to apply for a job elsewhere while he is the coach of the Super Eagles"

Despite Keshi's denial of applying for the job, Green who led a fact finding team to Ivory Coast says that the ex-coach lied about his intention stating that Keshi did so using one of his agents.

"I came back from Abidjan with two letters and that speak volume of what happened. I still have the letters. The first letter is the one his (Keshi’s) agent used in applying for the job, while the second letter is the one he used in withdrawing the application after the news broke out in Nigeria that Keshi was listed for the Ivorian job. The President of the NFF verbally queried him (Keshi) and he said ‘No.’ But they went to withdraw the application. The reason they gave was that they (Keshi and his agent) were withdrawing (the application) due to the large number of people that applied for the job. Didn’t they know that the vacancy was open to coaches all over the world?"

He however praised Keshi for helping to ressurrect the national team which was at a critical state when he came in. He also reiterated that Sunday Oliseh will make a viable replacement for him.
