While speaking in an exclusive interview with HIP TV, popular Nigerian legendary rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem, said that the toil of artistes of his generation made it possible for today’s shining stars to make money.

According to him, the likes of Mavin Records founder, Don Jazzy, would have never relocated back to Nigeria if the music industry had not been made lucrative by himself and his peers.

He said, “Without the old artistes, the new artistes won’t make money because we fought for the life they are living right now.”

Abdulkareem said he’s happy to be a legend, having made it possible for new artistes to eat. “We put food on their table because of what we fought for and we are very happy and that’s why we are legends,” he said.

“But if anyone of them tries to disrespect, we put them back to where they belong. All of them. From Don Jazzy… all of them, they lived in London. How come the British government never gave them the opportunity? They had to come back to Nigeria because we made it happen.”

D’banj and Don Jazzy founded Mo’Hits Records in 2006 after moving back to Nigeria from London, United Kingdom.
