Community in Shock as 15-year-old Boy is Stabbed to Death Over Girlfriend

 

According to ZBC, a 17-year-old Zimbabwean boy from Matobo district is facing murder charges after he allegedly fatally stabbed a teenager from the same area following a dispute over a girlfriend.

 

Mzingaye Ncube (15) died at Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo on the 11th of this month three days after he was allegedly stabbed by a fellow teenager, whose name has been withheld for ethical reasons.

 

He was buried on Friday last week in Silozwana village, Matobo.

 

Matabeleland South police spokesperson, Inspector Philisani Ndebele confirmed that they have opened a murder case against the Silozwe secondary school student and investigations are still under way.

 

Allegations are that the deceased saw the accused walking with his girlfriend who is doing form two also at Silozwe secondary school and teamed up with his friend to beat up the accused over the matter.

 

It is further alleged that the following morning, Ncube went to the accused’s house to apologise over his conduct.

 

It is said the accused then seized the opportunity to stab Ncube once on the head as revenge to the beatings he had allegedly received the previous day.

 

Ncube was rushed to Mpilo hospital where he later died of injuries from the wounds sustained from the stabbing.

 

The police released the accused in the custody of his parents as investigations continue since he is a minor.

 

The police said the teenager is expected to appear in court soon facing a murder charge once investigations are concluded.
