According to Punch Metro, two brothers, Ismail Raheem and Ganiu Raheem, have been arrested by the police for allegedly burgling a shop and carting away property worth N2.7m.

It was learnt that the siblings, Ismail, 39;  and Ganiu, 43, on July 3, 2018, broke into a store on Block 1, Alapa Fujah, Surulere, belonging to late Omotunde Alugo.

It was gathered that the siblings stole four deep freezers, two fridges, one industrial machine, a TV set, two electric ovens and one sewing machine, valued at N2.7m.

Our correspondent learnt that the suspects were caught by some neighbours who saw them moving the items out of the store.

Ismail and Ganiu were on Thursday arraigned before a Surulere Magistrates’ Court on three counts of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the Police Prosecutor, Christopher Okoliko, the suspects committed the offences with some other persons still at large.

He said the offences contravened sections 287, 309 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The magistrate, Bola Folarin-Williams, granted the suspects bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum, adding that the sureties should be the blood relations of the suspects and should hold managerial posts.

She added that the sureties should show evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government.

The case was adjourned till October 9, 2018.
