Inaugural Gala Night: Poor Performance Or Not, I Like My Bank Account, Says Akpororo

Comedian Akpororo has shrugged off criticism of his alleged poor performance at the presidential inaugural dinner on Friday, saying he doesn't care what his critics write or say as long as he was able to make President Muhammadu Buhari to laugh.

Under fire comedian, Akpororo, has told critics of his alleged lacklustre performance at the presidential inaugural gala night at the Aso Villa on Friday that his account balance is not complaining.

The comedian was criticized on social media for delivering a below par performance at the gala night, which was attended by President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, among other dignitaries.

Some viewers of the televised event had criticized Akpororo for recycling old jokes, while others said the stage was probably too 'big' for him to perform according to expectation.

Reacting to the flaks he received while speaking exclusively to Nigeria Entertainment Today, the comedian said the inaugural gala event is a different ball game from normal comedy shows.

"Number one, there's difference between that type of service or show and comedy show. You won't see that knacking (banging) of tables, even turn to your neighbour, dem no dey..." he said.

Akpororo insisted that what was paramount to him was making President Buhari to laugh. "I'm okay with that. Peole are just tweeting their own stuff", he said.

"I don't want anybody to like what happened, but I like my bank account", he added.
