Lagos Honours Student With Highest UTME Result In The State

The Lagos State Education District II, recognized Segbenu, who serves as the school’s Assistant Head Boy, for achieving a remarkable score of 352 out of 400, surpassing his peers in the state.

The Lagos State Government has honoured a science student of Lanre Awolokun High School in Gbagada, Dejo Segbenu, for his excellent performance in the recently concluded 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The Lagos State Education District II, located in Maryland, recognized Segbenu, who serves as the school’s Assistant Head Boy, for achieving a remarkable score of 352 out of 400, surpassing his peers in the state.

Segbenu excelled in various subjects, with scores of 94 in Mathematics, 98 in Chemistry, 96 in Physics, and 64 in English Language, making him the top candidate in Lagos State.

Mrs. Anike Adekanye, the Tutor General/Permanent Secretary of Education District II, visited the school to convey her congratulations and highlighted that Segbenu’s celebration symbolizes the positive outcomes resulting from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu‘s dedicated efforts and investments in the education sector.

“The candidate with the UTME best result is being celebrated to encourage others to improve on their efforts. I must, however, commend the teachers and the entire Education District II family for their dedication to service
,” Adekanye said.

She added, “My joy knows no bounds, especially with the success and achievement of the district, as recorded so far. The district is known for good results and achievements such as winning the Best Teacher Award in the state, the Best Artisan Award, the Best Student Award, including the best WASSCE result, and winning the Spelling Bee Competition with the prize of becoming the One-Day Governor, among others.”

Mr. Bayo Onifade, the Principal of Lanre Awolokun High School in Gbagada, expressed his gratitude to the Tutor General/Permanent Secretary of Education District II for her visit.

He praised both Segbenu and his teachers for their dedication and hard work, and encouraged other students to follow Segbenu’s example and strive for academic excellence.

In his own statement, Segbenu attributed his outstanding achievement to his unwavering commitment to hard work and diligent studying.
