The Niger State Internal Revenue Service (NSIRS) has announced an increased commitment to combat and apprehend individuals engaged in the unlawful manufacturing and sale of fake motor vehicle stickers and emblems throughout the state.
Revenue officials, including a director in Bosso and Paikoro local government areas of the State, have been arrested by NSIRS for allegedly producing and selling their personal emblems and stickers to the public.
Mohammed Etsu Madami, the chairman of the NSIRS, explained on Friday that the activities of the suspected revenue officials violated Section 32 (3), (4), and (6) of the Niger State Tax Administration and Consolidation Law, 2022.
According to him, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, has expressed his administration’s zero-tolerance for corruption and warned that anyone found involved in illegal revenue collection or illegal production and distribution of government documents will be made to face the law.
