The adoption came twelve years after the report was submitted during the administration of the former president, Goodluck Jonathan.
Uche Nwosu, an All Progressive Congress has applauded President Bola Tinubu for adopting the Steven Oransaye report.
He said the implementation of the Steven Oronsaye report was long overdue.
Recall that the Federal Executive Council on Monday adopted the Oronsaye report, which suggested the restructuring and rationalisation of Federal agencies, parastatals and commissions.
The adoption came twelve years after the report was submitted during the administration of the former president, Goodluck Jonathan.
Reacting, in a statement he issued on Tuesday, Uche Nwosu, a former Chief of Staff in Imo State, urged the committee set up to implement the adoption to hit the ground running without further delay.
According to him, the FEC’s decision was informed by the need to enhance efficiency in the federal service and reduce the cost of governance.
“The delay in the implementation of the recommendations of the Steve Oronsaye panel on the restructuring and rationalisation of Federal agencies, parastatals and commissions is long overdue”.
“I expect the eight-man committee, which has a 12-week deadline to ensure that the necessary legislative amendments and administrative restructuring needed to implement the reforms are effected in an efficient manner and hit the ground running.
“No doubt, Nigeria operates one of the world’s most bloated federal civil services and only visionary leadership in the class of President Tinubu could have faced the rhythm and taken the Bull by the horns to do what the FEC has recommended, in the interest of all”.
