On Monday, a group of bandits initiated an assault on communities situated along the Gabake Mesa - Kaura local road in the Kaura Namoda local government area of Zamfara State.
SaharaReporters reports that no fewer than three people were killed during the attack which started around 1 pm on Monday.
A source from the community said those killed by the gunmen were two brothers and one person yet to be identified.
“Their remains were deposited at General Hospital in Kaura Namoda for further examinations by the health personnel,” the source said.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Yezid Abubakar did not answer calls from SaharaReporters and had to reply to messages to him to confirm and get an update on the incident.
Two weeks ago, there was a report about how seven people were killed by armed bandits who attacked the divisional headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force in Zurmi town, the headquarters of the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Several shops were burnt and the divisional headquarters of the police in Zurmi was also razed by the bandits.
Another bandit group operating in the Maradun Local Government Area of the state also killed four persons and abducted several others earlier this month.
