Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, has reaffirmed the commitment and dedication of the Nigerian military to ensuring maximum security in the country.
Musa gave the assurance when he received in his office a 29-year-old driver from Gombe State, Mallam Suleiman Rabiu who trekked over 700km in appreciation of his leadership qualities and style of service.
The Acting Director, Defence information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the Assistant Director Defence Headquarters Provost, and the Special Assistant to the CDS Alhaji Hussaini, who received the Rabiu on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, commended him for identifying with the military, particularly, the Chief of Defence Staff.
Gusau reminded him that the Armed Forces under the leadership of General Musa was people-centric and was committed to defending the tenents of democracy and ensuring the sustainance of Mr President Renewed Hope agenda for the country.
A statement on Thursday by Acting Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, said that Mallam Suleiman, left Gombe State on the 12 February, 2024 and arrived Abuja, yesterday, 28 February, 2024 after spending 16 days on the road, despite the unfriendly weather conditions.
The spirited young man according to the statement, said he embarked on the journey to show his appreciation for the admirable leadership qualities of the CDS.
"According to him, security of lives and property has greatly improved since the assumption of office by General CG Musa. He added that the people - Centric philosophy of leadership of the CDS was what motivated him to identify with Armed Forces Chief."
Rabiu according to the statement, said he braced all odds to start the journey to Abuja to appreciate and commend the CDS for the excellent and exemplary leadership leading to successes recorded in various theaters of operation across the country.
"He maintained that his action is a testimony to the improved security enjoyed in the country," adding that "before now, it was almost impossible to have embarked on such a journey without encountering any hazard occasioned by insecurity in the North East," the statement indicated.
