Nigerian screenwriter, Opeyemi Akande, has given his two cents on the just concluded Ojude Oba festival held in Ogun state on Tuesday, June 18.
Photos from the festival made the rounds on social media yesterday as many Nigerians took delight in the rich cultural heritage displayed at the festival.
Ojude Oba is an ancient festival celebrated by the Yoruba people of Ijebu-Ode, a major town in Ogun State, Southwestern Nigeria. The festival usually takes place the third day after Eid al-Kabir, to pay homage and show respect to the Royal Majesty, the Awujale of Ijebuland.
Reacting to the buzz generated from this year's festival, Opeyemi stated that there is no infrastructure in the state instead, they are more focused on the festival.
He wrote;
‘’Ojude Oba is the only thing they know in that Ogun state. Light dem no get. Road? Nothing. Just Adire and Aso Oke''.
