According to a news journalist, former Lagos State governor Babatunde Fashola has dismissed any notion that he may compete for Nigerian president.

According to Fashola, he already has the title of "president" in his own household and is not interested in running for the top political position in the nation.

Speaking on a televised broadcast, the leader of the All Progressives Congress added that, having held public office himself, he does not miss it.

Asked directly whether he would contest for the presidency, Fashola responded: "No, president of what, I'm president at home."

He explained that there comes a point where one can look back and recognise how fortunate it was to have held office while younger, more energetic and at the peak of one's opportunities, adding that simply being alive to reflect on that period is itself a privilege.

He said his lifestyle has changed significantly since leaving office he now sleeps more, eats better and no longer treats food merely as fuel to keep going under pressure, since that pressure is now off.

He noted that he remains a member of the All Progressives Congress' Governors' Advisory Council and attends its meetings.

Offering advice to government and engaging with people at various levels, while being careful to draw a line between offering intervention and overstepping into interference.
