FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has asked residents of Abuja not to repeat what he calls the mistake of the 2023 election.

He wants them to back President Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027.

He made the call on Thursday at an interactive session in Bwari Area Council.

The event was organised by the Rainbow Coalition, which brings together members of the APC and PDP.

Wike asked residents to think about their 2023 choices and whether they would make the same ones again.

He told voters to focus on what leaders do, not which party they belong to.

He compared a party to a vehicle that takes you to your destination, saying you get off once you arrive and work for the people.

Wike also endorsed former FCT senator Philip Aduda and John Gbadaya under the coalition's arrangement.

He questioned what the current FCT senator, Ireti Kingibe, has delivered for residents.

He pointed to infrastructure projects in the territory as proof of the government's commitment and promised that the Gombe-Kubwa road would be ready by December.

Wike also said Julius Adamu, a former PDP candidate for Bwari Area Council chairman, has stepped down to support the incumbent chairman, Joshua.

He said he would recommend Adamu for a post on the FCT Universal Basic Education Commission.

The FCT APC chairman, Tanko Yamawo, and the FCT PDP chairman, Ismaila Dogara, both praised the initiative.

Dogara said the Rainbow Coalition is here to stay.
