Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu, the mother of popular Hausa musician and former President Muhammadu Buhari’s praise singer, Dauda Adamu, also known as Rarara, who was abducted by bandits has regained freedom.
Recall that Rarara’s mother was kidnapped about three weeks ago.
A source told reporters that her health had significantly deteriorated during her abduction, with high blood pressure being a major concern, and her condition worsened further while in captivity.
Following her release, she was promptly taken to a hospital in Abuja for medical treatment.
The village of Kahutu, where the singer hails from in the Danja local government area of Katsina State, erupted in celebration upon hearing the news of her freedom.
A few of the locals, who had a telephone conversation with Daily Trust, shared their joy regarding the singer’s mother’s release.
Habib Isyaka said, “I am so happy today that Mama has finally regained her freedom. I am happy our mother has returned to us.
“Though I haven’t seen her yet, you cannot imagine my feelings. Honestly, today I am happy.”
“I cannot express my feelings today. I am praying for her quick recovery because I learnt she is seriously ill.
“I want to use this opportunity to congratulate my brother Rarara over the release of Mama. We, the people of Kahutu village are happy with this development,” another resident, who gave her name as Ibrahim Bello Na Kahutu, said.
Recall that the bandits had initially demanded N1 billion ransom.
It is, however, unclear whether any ransom was paid for her release.
