Miraculous! How Little Blind and Deaf Girl was Able to See and Hear Her Mother for the First Time (Photo)

Nicolly Pereira spent the first two years of her life completely blind and deaf. But after her mom's Facebook post went viral, the little girl can now not only see her family for the first time but also hear them.

Shortly after her birth, the deaf and blind toddler was diagnosed with pediatric glaucoma and she was unable to even see light. Doctors in Brazil performed seven different surgeries to try, but they were all unsuccessful. Nicolly's mom, Daiana Pereira, decided to post her daughter's story on Facebook in hopes that sharing her mission to help Nicolly see one day might help.

More than 30,000 people started following her updates, and a stranger in Miami reached out to the Jackson Health Foundation's International Kids Fund.

 

Along with the help of the Kevin Garcia Foundation, the two organizations were able to raise more than $17,000, which was enough money for Nicolly to have surgery in Florida.

Thanks to the operations, Nicolly can now see, hear, and stand on her own — all things that her family only hoped would one day be possible for their little girl. "The only word that can be used to describe the feeling is 'God,'" Daiana told the Miami Herald. "My daughter is free now. She now shines more than before. She has now become a reference for people who didn't believe in miracles."
