Nasir El-Rufai accused his party, the All Progressives Congress, of abandoning its founding principles and promoting poor leadership.
The former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani has lashed out at Nasir El-Rufai, former Kaduna State Governor.
This followed his recent political remarks.
Lashing out at El-Rufai, Sani said the former governor practiced tyranny while in power, expressing surprise that El-Rufai now preaches democracy after leaving office.
On Monday, at an event in Abuja, Nasir El-Rufai accused his party, the All Progressives Congress, of abandoning its founding principles and promoting poor leadership.
El-Rufai further stated, “You cannot afford to have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as your leaders. This is why we end up with the poor leadership we have today.”
Reacting to El-Rufai’s comments in a telephone interview on Tuesday, Shehu Sani observed, “The man with a history of undisguised intolerance to the opposition and a hypersensitive allergy to criticisms has no moral or saintly authority to stand on the pulpit of democracy to preach about good governance.”
Shehu Sani said that El-Rufai demonized the opposition while in power but now embraces them in the wilderness, adding, “El-Rufai’s behavior is like someone bitter over rejection. If Nasir El-Rufai is in a Keke Napep, he will call it a Lamborghini; if he is thrown out of the Lamborghini, he will call it a Keke Napep.”
Sani alleged that, according to El-Rufai, Tinubu’s government today is led by illiterates because they refused to appoint Professor Nasiru, whom Sani claimed “left behind a heap of garbage in Kaduna and is now preaching hygiene in Nigeria.”
