According to reports, parents of kids abducted after a terrorist attack in Oyo State's Oriire Local Government Area have refused food, money, and other relief supplies delivered by government representatives, stating that their sole wish is for their children to return safely.
Following the violent assault, in which armed attackers attacked Esiele and Yawota districts, targeting students, teachers, and other inhabitants, neighbors said the community is still traumatized.
According to an elderly witness, heartbroken parents declined to take food and money aid when government representatives visited the impacted regions, emphasizing that material support could not replace their missing children.
Locals have said that the parents frequently stated that they wanted immediate action to ensure the release of the abducted students rather than relief supplies.
According to a resident, the families made it apparent that they would not take any kind of payment until their kids were returned home safely.
A mother of one of the affected students reportedly described how armed individuals in military-style clothes allegedly attacked the neighborhood, fired fire, and kidnapped multiple children, including her daughter.
She begged the authorities to take immediate action to guarantee the children's safe return.
Community leaders also recounted the chaotic scenes that occurred during the attack, claiming that the principal of a nearby school was compelled to help the abdstmtators by transporting kidnapped students into a nearby woodland before the car was set on fire.
Fear grew throughout the area as residents reported theft and fatalities during the raid.
Particularly in areas of Oyo State that are close to forest reserves, the incident has increased worries about insecurity, and locals are demanding immediate and efficient rescue efforts rather than humanitarian aid.
