Truck Driver Flees After Fatal Crash On Lagos Ibadan Expressway

An unidentified man has been k!lled in a hit-and-run crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near the OPIC area in Ogun State.

The incident happened just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday when the young man was trying to cross the highway from the Lagos-bound side toward the roadside near OPIC.

A speeding truck hit him and ran over him, and the driver fled without stopping.

The collision caused severe injuries, with parts of the man's body scattered across the road.

Motorists had to slow down and swerve to avoid the remains.

A witness named Nojeem said he saw the truck strike the man as he crossed.

Nojeem pointed out how often fatal accidents happen on that stretch of road and urged authorities to build a pedestrian bridge to reduce the danger for people trying to cross.

When officials arrived just after 2 p.m., the body was still on the expressway.

Traffic officers and a security agency were deployed to control traffic flow.

The state traffic agency confirmed it was a hit-and-run case at the OPIC bus stop on the Lagos-bound section.

The crash slowed traffic while workers tried to clear the remains from the road.

By 6 p.m., the federal road safety agency had removed the body and taken it to a teaching hospital in the area.

Traffic was restored to normal along that section of the expressway.
