The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has revoked the licences of six private waste collection companies, known as PSP operators, after they failed to deliver reliable services in their designated areas.

Speaking at LAWMA’s headquarters in Ijora-Olopa on Tuesday, the agency’s Managing Director, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, stated that the move is part of an effort to clean up the system and hold service providers accountable.

He emphasized that LAWMA won't hesitate to step in when operators fail to meet the standard required to keep Lagos communities clean.

While one operator, K-HS Integrated Services, chose to voluntarily withdraw from its location in Igbogbo-Baiyeku, LAWMA officially terminated the licences of the remaining five companies.

The affected operators and their designated zones include K-HS Integrated Services (formerly Gboleybos Nigeria Ltd) in Ward C1, Slot A, Abosan (Igbogbo-Baiyeku); Deshasat Enterprises in Ibereko / LIMCA (Olorunda); Bailas Nigeria Company in Sabo Oniba (Ojo); Guestimate Environmental Protection Company in Papa Ashafa II (Orile Agege); Evabol Ventures in Oluwa 1 (Ajeromi-Ifelodun); and Korad Closet Empire Limited in Oke-Ira / Powerline (Ojodu).

Dr. Gbadegesin reassured residents in these areas that LAWMA is putting temporary plans in place so trash collection won't be disrupted, while urging the public to keep using approved waste disposal methods.
