Rosemary Aduku, the councillor for Ogugu Ward III in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, has died after spending several days in captivity.
Her colleagues called her Hon. Rosella.
The news was announced in a statement from the council chairman, Dr Ameh Williams, on behalf of the Olamaboro Executive Council on Friday.
He did not say who held her or what kind of captivity she was in.
In the statement, Williams described her as a humble and reliable person who worked to make the people around her happy.
He prayed for her family, the council and the Ogugu community to find strength during this loss.
Her burial is set for 1pm on Friday at her family compound in Ogugu Centre.
The council also invited members of the APC to attend.
