Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu visited the site of Phil Hallmark Supermarket and commiserated with management and staff.
He was pictured walking round the raze business enterprise and addressing a small crowd like he would have done as the governor of the state.
It would be recalled that Iyamu strongly contested against Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress in which he lost.
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu yesterday looked on in awe and palpable empathy at the damage done by fire on Phil Hallmark facility located in Benin city. He lamented the gross and unimaginable loss the prime mover of the business, Philip Edigin would have incurred by this preventable incident.
Osagie Ize-Iyamu mentioned that Phil Hallmark Shopping mall is a pride to all Edo people. According to him, everyone comes here to shop. And the business has continued to create jobs for Edo people.
He encouraged the prime mover to pick courage to forge ahead, trusting the Almighty God to make resources available to him.
The burnt building
Ize-Iyamu mentioned that a right thinking government would come immediately to the rescue of the business by providing long term loan at single digit interest rate considering the strategic and economic importance of this business.
Furthermore, he reiterated the death of development in the state in the past eight years besides mere propaganda. He argued that if the Edo state fire service was well equipped and properly positioned to deliver on its core objectives, the loss would have been minimal or avoided.
He made these assertions after he was informed that the Fire service men did not turn up till over two hours after they were called.
