A woman identified as Kafayat Abdulsalam has been arrested by the Kwara State Police command for allegedly carting away goods, money and other valuables from markets and supermarkets within Ilorin metropolis using supernatural means.

According to Daily Sun, Abdulsalam, who resides and owns a food stuff shop at Oko-Olowo area, of the metropolis, used mystical powers to steal money and goods from shops of unsuspecting traders in Ilorin.

Speaking about the incident, a source said: “The woman has a sort of supernatural power which she used to cart away goods and valuables of people, mostly traders. Each time she lays her hands on any item or money in any shop she enters, such goods or money will disappear to her house.”

After many people had complained about the matter, men of the Kwara State Police Command, ‘A Division’ were said to have deployed a surveillance team to the area. This led to the arrest of the woman during the weekend at her Oko-Olowo rssidence.

According to a source, the suspect was said to be living in an isolated building in the area. It was also learnt that, items such as bags of foodstuff, provisions and huge amount of money running into millions were recovered from her by the police while the suspect and the exhibits were subsequently whisked to the “A” Division Police Station in ilorin.

Speaking the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the arrest of Abdulsalam. He, however, debunked the claim that millions of naira were recovered from her.

According to him, “there is nothing mystical or magical about the issue and most of the items recovered from her were foodstuffs, which had been claimed by the owners.”

“The woman normally goes to shops pretending she wants to buy items and in the process she will steal foodstuffs and take it to her shop to sell, sometime, she steals their money. The woman in question is in our custody as we are yet to conclude investigation on the issue,” Okasanmi said.

The PPRO said if found guilty after conclusion of investigation, Abdulsalam will be prosecuted.
