Whatever Buhari Says Will Have Grave Consequences - Senator Sani Talks on Buhari's 2019 Declaration

Influential APC politician, Senator Shehu Sani has stated that Buhari's eventual decision to contest or not to contest in the 2019 elections would have serious consequences for many Nigerians.

The Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has said that whatever President Muhammadu Buhari says concerning his intention to run for a second term in office will have grave consequences on a lot of Nigerians.

The lawmaker said that while President Buhari is yet to declare his intentions ahead of 2019, he (the president) might be trying to simply focus on delivering on his campaign promises.

He stated this yesterday during an appearance on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ which was hosted by Seun Okinbaloye.

The Senator said he doesn’t know if President Buhari will seek re-election. “No one can clearly say if President Buhari will run for re-election in 2019.

“But it is clear that if he takes a position, if he says he is not going to contest certainly that may be the end of governance in Nigeria because it is only going to be about 2019 and if he says he is going to contest, certainly the political ambition of so many people will certainly come to an end.

“But I think he is being strategic for now, he wants to deliver on pledges and promises made in 2015 and because whatever comes out from his mouth has a grievous implication to governance in Nigeria as it is now.”

Recall that TORI News had previously reported that the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, said that President Muhammadu Buhari will make his decision on the 2019 elections public.

The ruling party chairman spoke on the heels of a comment credited to Aisha Alhassan, that President Buhari had said he would not seek re-election.
