Posted by Samuel on Thu 21st Dec, 2017 - tori.ng

A man has gotten shot in the head outside a busy town center as many people watched while the tragedy unfolded in broad daylight.

The scene of the sad incident

In what will come across as a really shocking development, a British man has been shot in the head and a bus driver injured after a shooting in Southport town centre in front of horrified Christmas shoppers.

According to Daily Star UK, armed police swooped on the scene after gunshots were heard in the busy shopping area near stores such as Primark, Poundland and Coral.

The gunman is currently at large and police are appealing for information.

Cops discovered two men had been injured during the incident – a bus driver and a man in his 20s who had been shot in the head.

Witnesses described hearing a gunshot and running for cover as people were kept inside shops for safety.

Both men have been taken to hospital – and the man with the head wound is described as having “non life-threatening” injuries.

Cops are now trying to establish what exactly happened and find out who was the shooter after the 12.30pm incident.

A witness told the Liverpool Echo: "I walked out of Primark and the second I stepped outside I heard it, it was outside Thorntons.

"Scary stuff, I just rushed the kids away and back home. Feel sick. The guy who got shot was sitting up and conscious so fingers crossed he’s okay.”

Police sealed the area with a cordon in Eastbank Street from Kings Street to Lord Street.

Another witnesses said he heard a bang and saw a man running past with a bike and putting a gun back into his jacket.

The business owner said: “He walked past pushing this bike and was putting a gun into his jacket and then he got on the bike and rode away.

"I am closing the shop now – the whole street is sealed off and no-one can get in or out.”

Ch Insp Paul Sutcliffe said: “I want to appeal to any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

“To fire any weapon in a busy street at this time of the day is incredibly reckless and there will have been numerous people in the area, some of whom may have seen the incident or somebody running off, or have dashcam or CCTV footage to assist.

“We are determined to find the person responsible and bring them to justice and I want to reassure people that there are extensive enquiries ongoing to establish the circumstances.”
