Richard Bamgbose, a 37-year-old fisherman, who allegedly took laws into his hands and sealed off a filling station, was on Friday brought before an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State.

According to Vanguard, he is facing a breach of peace charge.

The accused was alleged to have committed the offence on Nov. 24, 2017 at 2.00 p.m when he and another man still at large barricaded Emok Petrol Station along Okitipupa-Igbokoda Road.

According to Police Prosecutor Ayodeji Omoyeigha, the action of the accused amounted to causing a breach of public peace.

“The accused and one other a large, unlawfully sealed off the petrol station belonging to the complainant, Hapiness Balogun, following a disagreement.
“The complainant said the closure resulted in a huge loss of money.”

The offence contravened Section 249 (d) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded innocence of the offence and was granted bail in the sum of N30,000 and a surety in like sum.

Magistrate Chris Ojuola, who gave the ruling, said the surety must provide evidence of a year tax payment.

He adjourned the case until Jan. 25 for further hearing.
