Four members of the robbery syndicate that attacked and robbed two banks in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State have been arrested by the Nigerian Police.

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended four members of the robbery gang which unleashed terror on two commercial banks in the Ipakodo, Ikorodu area of Lagos two weeks ago,
According to Punch, the suspected armed robbers were arrested in Okitipupa, Ondo State, and Ikorodu, Lagos State with vehicles purchased with the spoils of the robbery operation recovered from them. The suspects, police learnt had already bought cars and plots of land from their loots.
The suspects, Monday Akpan, Bright Agbojule, a third identified simply as Jafaru, and one Baba Ibeji were arrested by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, in an operation involving a former SARS commander, SP Abba Kyari, and an officer, DSP James Okeke.
The armed robbers ran out of luck when a member of the syndicate known as Baba Ibeji was driving in his newly bought Lexus car when soldiers in the Okitipupa area of Ondo State discovered bundles of new N1,000 notes with bank seals in his car.
This aroused the suspicion of the soldiers who were aware of the recent bank robbery operation in Lagos. He was then arrested for interrogation during which the Lagos State Police Command was contacted. He gave up the names of other members and this led to the arrest of 3 other members so far with 11 others still at large.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the arrests in a text message. He said, “The Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti, will parade the suspects on Monday, as he hands over to the new CP, Fatai Owoseni, at the command headquarters.”
It was learnt that efforts were still being intensified to get other members of the gang, which reportedly numbered about 15.
