Aisha Wakil

Aisha Wakil, a lawyer who was declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters alongside two others namely; Ahmad Salkida - a journalist currently out of Nigeria and Ahmed Bolori over links with the Boko Haram sect has been released by the Directorate of State Security, DSS after being detained for 48hours.

According to a reliable source who spoke to Tori News in confidence, her release was finalised yesterday evening, 17th of August after she was grilled by the DSS investigators.

Aisha Wakil, a South-eastern woman who converted to Islam from Christianity was referred to the DSS office in Abuja after availing herself to the Nigerian military for questioning after being declared wanted on Sunday, 14th of August.

The details of her interrogation by the DSS are currently sketchy but according to a source who spoke to Tori News via a phone interview, she was urged to work hand in hand with security operatives in rescuing the over 200 girls kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents on the night of 14-15, April, 2014 in Chibok, Borno State and also quelling the menace of terrorism that has killed over 20,000 Nigerians and displaced over 2 million people in the North-east.

"She was treated with utmost respect and dignity by the DSS. They only wanted to seek her cooperation and expert advice in ending the insurgency and securing the release of the abducted Chibok school girls" the source revealed.

It is not certain if Aisha Wakil will be summoned again in the nearest future by security operatives for further investigations.

According to the source, the leadership of the Nigerian Army tendered an apology to Aisha Wakil and her family for the maligning her image in the media by declaring her wanted.

"The action of the military was a big blunder"
the source reiterated.

"Aisha Wakil's relationship with Boko Haram is known to security operatives and they have the full details of her house address. So why did they have to declare her wanted in the media like she was running from the law?"
the source quizzed.

Aisha Wakil and her family members are reportedly scheduled for a press conference later today, 18th of August to make cogent clarifications concerning her links with Boko Haram and her recent moments of distress after being declared wanted.

Aisha Wakil and the two others were declared wanted after Boko Haram released a video showing some abducted Chibok girls on Sunday, 14th of August through Ahmad Salkida  in proposal of a swap deal with Boko Haram terrorists locked up in Nigerian cells.
