Panic As Gunmen Strike, Kill Two In Kogi Community

Some gunmen who are still unidentified have struck and killed two youths in Ogbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Daily Post reports that the incident happened on Friday.

It was further gathered that the gunmen, who were armed with sophisticated weapons, killed their victims without being intercepted by security agencies in the area.

A source who does not want to be named, said “Some gunmen identified as Fulani reportedly murdered two of our active youths committed to community assignment around the general area of Oyi River before ascending Ogbe Town here in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

“It is a sad incident that has thrown the ancient town Into mourning. Necessary activities are in top gear presently. Ogbe Town needs our prayers and support at this critical period.”


Condemning the incident, the lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Karimi⁩, said the latest incidents of banditry and kidnapping in Yagba land have reinforced his earlier call for state police.

He called on the Kogi State government to immediately commence work on Egbe–Ogbe road in Yagba West Local Council of the state for easy access.

The senator consoled the families of the bereaved and the entire people of Ogbe community.

When contacted, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP William Ovye Aya said the Command is yet to get report on the incident.

He promised to give our correspondent feedback as soon as he gets detailed information about the incident.
