A man who planned with his son and killed his daughter has finally met a cruel fate while being held in police custody.

A father who planned with his son to murder the teenage daughter, Aqsa Parvez has finally died. The Mississauga man was arrested and put behind bars before his death.

According to The Toronto Sun, the 67-year-old Muhammad Parvez died last Wednesday at Gravenhurst’s Beaver Creek Institution. A probe is underway to determine the cause of death, but early indications are that foul play is not suspected.

Before his death, Parvez was convicted along with his son Waqas of second-degree murder in the Dec. 10, 2007 strangling of 16-year-old Aqsa Parvez after family disputed over cultural issues.

The Grade 11 student’s friends told police she had been fearful of retributions from her family, who were originally from Pakistan and did not approve of her desire to become more westernized. She had moved in with friends after disagreements with her father, but had decided to return home about two weeks before her death.

She told friends her father threatened to “kill” her if she ever left home again.

She was murdered just days later in her bedroom in the family’s Longhorn Trail home. Court heard Parvez had dialed 911 after she was strangled and said, “I killed my daughter.”

The father and son pleaded guilty in June 2010 to second-degree murder and received an automatic life sentence with 18 years before eligibility for parole.

Aqsa Parvez has been buried in the Meadowvale Cemetery in Brampton. It’s unclear where her father will be interred.
